The War Wagon - Original Trailer 1967

John Wayne and Kirk Douglas spend half of The War Wagon trying to knock one another off and the other half working shoulder to shoulder. Settling an old score with avaricious mine owner Bruce Cabot, Wayne plans to steal a $500,000 gold shipment from his enemy. Douglas, at first hired by Cabot to kill Wayne, goes along with the robbery scheme. Also in on the plan is Howard Keel, superbly cast as a world-weary, wisecracking Native American (it's the sort of part that nowadays would go to Graham Greene). The titular war wagon is the armor-plated, Gatling-gun fortified stagecoach wherein Cabot's gold is transported. Thus the stage is set for a slam-bang finale, and director Burt Kennedy isn't about to disappoint the viewers. Best bit: after Kirk and The Duke gun down Cabot's henchmen Bruce Dern and Chuck Roberson, Douglas quips "Mine hit the ground first"--whereupon Wayne replies "Mine was taller." Chieftains´- Rebel Jesus by J. Browne

The original Irish folk band The Chieftains were first formed in Dublin in 1963, as a semi-professional outfit, from the ranks of the top folk musicians in Ireland. The group´s big breakthrough internationally occurred when they provided the music for Stanléy Kubrick´s movie, Barry Lyndon in 1975. I myself got introduced into their music for the first time several years ago, when a friend of mine gave me their Christmas-themed album The Bells of Dublin as a gift. The album performs traditional carols, some great Irish dance music, and on top of it a list of great guest artists like Jackson Browne and Marianne Faithfull. It has become one of my favourites for the sheer joy and celebration of Christmas. Even though "The Rebel Jesus" is a cynical complaint about the hypocrisy of the supposedly pious and a lot of people dislike it, I don´t. On the contrary it´s my personal favourite. Enjoy! Mario Kart Wii - December 2008, 1st Competition 2'04"741

December 01, 2008 - My first day highscore of the 15th Mario Kart Wii Nintendo Event (Competition 1 December 01-10, 2008). Another boss battle this time - but it's more a normal time trial than an actual fight. There is only a giant wiggler running around the course Wario's Gold Mine which can be passed already at the first corner. After that the only interesting thing are the stars which are scattered between the gold trolleys. There are also some mushrooms in the corner before the tunnel, but they aren't worthy enough to get them. Also mentionable is that the driving speed is only 100cc. I can't imagine why Nintendo has chosen this, but it makes the jump before the tunnel harder... I had a good run here, first and second lap were topsplit ^^
